Throughout the original canon, fey's mother legally changes her name so many times. Below are some examples.
becomes
“I know, honey.” Margaret answered through her own tears as she hugged him tightly.
and then back to
These are my parents." Nikki proudly stood between the pair and hugged them both. "Nicholas and Lucy Reilly."
I know that's technically one thing, but is this evidence that Fey's writer just changed some names from a self-insert story???
"My son.” Lucinda Reilly answered firmly, then added. “Who is changing into someone else in front of my eyes.”

Lucinda shortened to Lucy would not be uncommon. So, the Margaret thing is only one 'error'...
As far as a quick look goes, I found four uses of Margaret... all in one scene, all in the first story Maggie published in the WU. that means that the error has been there for over thirteen years now (since Aug 2004)... and its managed to not freak out anyone else or cause them to consider vast conspiracies about self-inserts and... whatever-the-hell. There were lots of little errors and typos and things in the first couple years of the WU stories, as we've progressed we've grown more cautious about continuity and, of course, improved on our technical skills. But truthfully, its not like we're working with a paid editorial team. If you get fixated on the errors, you're going to have a bad day.

Or, you know you could be our unpaid copywriter
If you provide story link, short section of story that can be copied and searched for and the corrections for each part I’ll do my best to edit the corrections into the stories

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

Or Margret could be her middle name...

Or it could be something like my cousin Sally. She is named after her mother, so the family calls her Sally, but people outside the family may see her written name and call her Sarah.

OK, but there's practical limits to retconning/no-prizing mistakes out of being mistakes.
One thing is someone named "Elizabeth" being called , in different contexts, "Eliza", "Liz", "Beth", "Betty", "Buffy", "Lizzie", "Elspeth" (this one by her Goff crowd). Or "Margareth" being "Meg" or even "Peggy." But "Margareth" becoming "Lucinda"? I can't buy that.
Middle name, you say? Well, yeah, some people might prefer calling her by the middle name instead of the first name... but the omniscient narrator being inconsistent that way is stretching it.
Let's just accept that Maggie changed her mind about Fey's name at some point during the writing process, and not all instances were duly updated.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.

It was part of a secret spy thing due to Fey's dad.

Right! So like:
So, that's all for Mr. Rehnquist. Go.
Harry Tasker wallet. Harry Tasker passport. Plane ticket stub, hotel receipt, Tasker. Two postcards of Lake Geneva. House keys. Souvenir snowing Swiss village.
