Question Heaven and Hell: missing stories in Library

    • Is there any reason (other than someone hasn't gotten to it yet) that the four other Heaven and Hell stories -- two by Bek and two by EE -- have not been posted in the Library?

    There's a note by Maggie at the beginning of Lilith's Ransom recommending that readers read those four stories before reading Lilith's Ransom and providing links to them at Sapphire's Place. However, the links to Bek's two stories don't work because they insert an internal link to this website before the link to Sapphire's.

    The correct links are:

    • Basically, it's the author's privilege to choose where they want to post their stories. Stories which were in the old Whateley Library could reasonably be migrated without explicit permission of the writers, since they had already given the permission once and never revoked it.

    But those stories never were posted to the WL. I understand that way back then, some authors promised Sapphire an exclusivity of sorts regarding some of their stories. I don't know exactly what they promised her, I have no idea if it's still morally or legally binding, and I don't know if those particular stories were promised as exclusives to Sapphire. But we volunteers cannot go around just plucking stuff from other sites.

    If Bek and E.E. are OK with it, we can migrate them. Fortunately both are around to be asked. Some of the old team are rather... unavailable.

    • As Sir Lee said, its a permissions thing. We added the library section as a convenience thing for the canon authors... someplace to release stories we wanted to put out even if there wasn't anywhere else we wanted to post them to. While Sapphire was active, for example, more than a few people people had things on her site that were exclusive to that site. But when she went inactive and we set up the crystal hall site, it was easier to just post them ourselves than to move the whole story to FM or BCTS just to post a new chapter or two.

    As I remember, both EE and Bec posted allowing all their stories to be published to the Library section, I posted admitting I can't edit Heaven and Hell: Lilith's Ransom and someone with editing access will need to fix the links for me, and I also offered to help migrated if needed any stories for Bec and EE that they send me.

    Anything else missing?
