I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

Happy birthday, Elrod.
Hmmm... one day before the anniversary of that Italian adventurer, Cristoforo Colombo, arriving to the Caribbean... which is also Children's Day here in Brazil for some reason... and also the feast day of the country's patron saint... so tomorrow is a holiday for the worst of the three reasons...
And two days before a Friday the 13th...
It must mean something. I have no idea what.

It’s a day to pray for the children, makes perfect sense to me, after all we know what happened next after that poor little lost European arrived.

A birthday, huh? Well, then, that calls for a song. A song celebrating the existence of the ElrodW. Luckily, I am here to provide. I'll just shamelessly borrow
this guy's tune,
and...
I have a rod,
I have long rod,
Unh!
L-rod!
I have long rod,
I have another rod,
Unh!
Backwards L-rod!
L-rod,
Backwards L-rod,
Unh!
L-rod double-U!
I have a rod,

Unh!
L-rod!

Thank You for story comments appreciated and help me know me they are being read and liked.
Note: My story comments can't nor are trying to replace reading the stories, simply my way of enjoying them and letting the authors know I enjoy them.

A little late [sucked into reading a book for...over 9 hours!], but happy birthday, elrod. Hope you were able to enjoy yourself with friends and family.

Never give up, Never surrender! Captain Peter Quincy Taggert

This has been one of the strangest birthdays I've ever had. As you may or may not know, our house got flooded by Hurricane Harvey (52" of rain in the area. Yes, that's not a mistype - fifty-two!). Consequently, the first floor is gutted. We are living out of two bedrooms, a 'game room', and a bathroom upstairs, plus one old sofa, TV, and a kitchen sink on the first floor. Everything else is either boxed up or gone, as is a few feet of drywall on all walls. It's been 6 weeks - and it seems we're not making much progress to restore our living conditions. It's draining. Very depressing, as a matter of fact. And in the middle of this, I have a birthday. When some co-workers got me a card, a gift certificate for a home-style restaurant, and cupcakes yesterday, I was almost in tears. So I haven't felt much like celebrating anything. Worse, I need to get stuff for my wife - her birthday is today (day after mine) - but between the house and wife and daughter doing drama production, it's total chaos and I need to go shopping for her. Which I don't like doing.
So - thanks, y'all. It means a lot that people take a moment or two to write something.

Guess I got a here a little late. Still, I wish you an happy birthday, elrod, and hopes progress will arrive soon on the front of your house's reparation. And if it means anything, I also wish one to your wife.

Tell your wife that if she were here in Brazil her birthday would be a holiday. And she would get the choice of being either a child or the patron saint of the entire country.elrodw wrote: Worse, I need to get stuff for my wife - her birthday is today (day after mine) - but between the house and wife and daughter doing drama production, it's total chaos and I need to go shopping for her. In the end reality is only consensual! It means that Al Gore is causing "Global Warming" by his rhetoric alone! Fortunately, there are enough Global Warming "Deniers" still about to keep him from boiling the planet.
