  • An hour ago, Stephen Hawking, renowned physicist and disabled scientist died from unknown causes. Hawking was renowned for his work on Quantum Physics, and was arguably the smartest man in the world. Sticken with ALS during his early adult years, he had been confined to a wheelchair up until his death. As one of my childhood heroes, and as a inspiration to those who have had great challenges, but have weathered them with great success, I would like to pay tribute to his life, his legacy, and his great contribution to science and the human understanding of the cosmos. He will be missed greatly by both the scientific world, and by Humanity itself. RIP Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds humanity has ever, and will ever, know.

  • That's a huge loss for science. He was working on some pretty revolutionary stuff the past few years... is there anyone else who will even be able to pick up where he left off?

  • The thing that I always associate with him, even beyond his brilliant contributions to human knowledge, is the sense that he was always having fun despite his condition.

  • Hey, I believe he was the only person ever who got to appear in a Star Trek episode playing himself. And he won over both Einstein and Newton... in poker. Yes, I do believe he found ways to have fun. He also had cameos in The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory and a few other series with a high geek index.

Don't call me "Shirley." You will surely make me surly.
