Despite the confusing nature of the title, this has nothing to do with the weather. Rather, it's to do with the fact that apparently few (if any) other people on this site have actually seen the iconic British sci fi sitcom Red Dwarf. I mean, I drop references in the Lost N found thread all the frakking time. But no... not a single person has caught on. I mean, it's as if the show is obscure!!! It's one of the three longest running sci fi television shows (at least as far as I know. Wikipedia and google are both very unhelpful on the topic) still airing today, with a original airdate of 1987, and 12 seasons, the latest having been published last year.
For those who are unaware (who I assume is the majority of the site), Red Dwarf follows the misadventures of the last human being alive, Dave Lister- a slobby, curry-devouring, self-proclaimed 'space bum' from Liverpool. At the beginning of the series, he is put into stasis for 3 million years, managing to successfully survive a radiation leak that wiped out the entire ship's crew. He awakens in the far future, 3 million years from Earth, and accompanied only by the humanoid lifeform that evolved from his pet cat (played by Danny John Jules), a hologramatic resurrection of his dead bunkmate, a cleaning droid from a crashed vessel, and the ship's 'computer senile' AI, Holly.
The series is named for the ship that most of the series takes place aboard, the colossal mining ship Red Dwarf, which is 'slower that the speed of dark' and has '3 million years on the clock'. The series had a aborted US version (much like the other british sit com 'The IT crowd' which I believe was unsuccessfully adapted for US audiences) which failed due to terrible writing, but is considered one of the more iconic sci fi sitcoms. Today's Red Dwarf is made by a channel called Dave, having been sold by the BBC after the show's long-running hiatus throughout most of the early 2000's. It was revived for a tenth season in 2010, and two more seasons have been published pretty much back-to-back over the last three years.
Please. Just watch the damm show. It's worth it, even if the early series were classic low-budget 80's sitcoms.

I think I watched a few episodes. The PBS stations that did pick up the show for broadcast usually played it in a late night time slot.

It's that I haven't watched it in years, and I'm very hit and miss on the Lost & Found thread. I love the show. I really need to track down the new seasons.

I've watched Red Dwarf, in 1990. It's been a long time, and I had no idea it was still being made.

... there's no kind of atmosphere,
we're all alone, more or less...
Got the DVDs for series 1-7. Haven't commented because I really don't watch that thread, and I've been busy fighting upper respiratory infections and allergies, dealing with contractors, and trying to get the rest of my house repaired from Harvey.
