  • I was writing some training material this week, and I had to touch on the subject of computer security, so I had to have a hacker - and since the office is not really into 'big bad enemy', I had to make up a name. Naturally, I thought it would fit the Whateley Universe.

So - see if anyone can top this name for a fictitious location...

Imperial Democratic People's Revolutionary Republic of Lower East Slobovia. :silly:

If a villain comes from there, by the time he monologues the name of his home country, the heroes would have arrived :roflmao:

  • Is that the Imperial Democratic People's Revolutionary Republic
or the Imperial People's Democratic Revolutionary Republic ??

I love watching their innocent little faces smiling happily as they trip gaily down the garden path, before finding the pit with the rusty spikes.

  • That reminds me of a limited-series comic book that was so bad, even comic book geeks weren't sure if the last issue actually got published as its own product.

Somehow it was a Democratic Constitutional Monarchy being run by an Interim (*cough* yeah, right *cough*) People's Revolutionary Council composed of the "former" cabinet and ministers.

  • Imperial State of the People's Socialist Republic of East Slobovia and the Lohkolagala Plantations.

(Please note that this is actually WEST of East Slobovia, and apologies to Rhode Island's full name)

  • I once helped an aspiring screenwriter brainstorm a series which was meant to be a parody of James Bond, in which the female lead was a super-spy for an obscure former British colony that was coming to grips with independence circa 1992, when the Commonwealth decided that they couldn't be bothered anymore now that the Cold War was over. The island of New Buttsex ("that's pronounced 'Bussic', thank you very much!") is divided between two halves, with Lower New Buttsex being the main locale of the series, and the breakaway "people's republic" (read: looney dictatorship so out there even Libya and North Korea wanted nothing to do with them) of Upper New Buttsex being their main adversary.

Other names we considered were "East Puddingtonshire", "Braughstokinghamland", and "New North Oddsex", among other bizarre, painfully British possibilities.

I never did hear what, if anything, came of the idea.

    Out, damnéd Spot! Bad Doggy!
